My other great pursuit after cetaceans is remote travel. I have visited over 100 tribal cultures in 55 countries. My previous books, stories, and essays about these journeys is an attempt to give some small voice to many people who have no written language. On average, the last speaker of a language passes from this earth every week, taking an entire culture with it. That, to borrow an old African saying, is, “like a library burning.”
